The perks of being a Freelance Writer.

Now, by no means am I saying that freelance journalism doesn't have its pits, it does. But, with the intention of sounding less like a moaning Murtle or sarcastic Susie than normal, let's focus on the good stuff chums. After all, it is Friday.

When thinking about what to pen for this today blog, I was faced with a few tricky choices. I could talk about my love for Fro Yo or Eylure semi-permenant lashes. I could ramble on about how Twitter has made us into peeping Tom's, seeking 140 characters worth of cheap thrills. Unsurprisingly I did question whether people had heard another about my favourite subject, the Beibs (yes, got him in there) or whether I should give it a week or two - you can thank me later. But then it came to me, after hitting send on the nineteenth email of the day I had decided, it was right in front of, staring me blankly in the face - I shall write about what I do.

Without embarking into cover letter territory and boring you all senseless, I am currently writing for RWD, MOBO and Swift London ltd amongst other things on the boil as we speak.

And what are the perks I speak of? Well they go a little bit like this...
  1. My "office wear" includes a pair of joggers and a tiger basket ball tank top.
  2. On lazy days my desk is my bed.
  3. My fingers can type 300 words in twenty minutes flat - a not to Facebook Chat must be made here.
  4. My Office is Starbucks, coffee and cake on tap.
  5. One day, one day soon, Starbucks will not have to ask me that dreaded question we all hate, "so, what's the name?". I will be a regular and I will like it.
  6. It allows me to unite my two lovers, music and writing
  7. No one can judge me on the amount of snacks I demolish in the day. Kettle Chips, check. Angel Cake, check. Anything with more colours in it that my wardrobe, check.
  8. When it is quiet, I can hear the sounds my Mac (otherwise known as Mackenzie) makes when I skip over the keys. Satisfaction for the nation.
  9. No makeup. I won't scare children cause I won't see any.
  10. I hear some of the best music before it is dropped for the public to get their mitts on.
There are plenty more, but these are the ones I am feeling today. I would have noted sleeping in till twelve, but I can't do that, I am not much of a sleeper. After all, being busy means I am far less irritating - and I like it.

Holla.

  1. Haha this made me laugh! I'm writing again and trying to get my work out there as much as possible so I can pretty much relate to all of this! How did you get writing for RWD etc if you don't mind me asking?
